Latest book

I've just finished reading Dan Brown's The lost Symbol.

It was a pretty good read although some of the plot twists were very contrived. it was also about four chapters too long. Almost seemed like the author was paid for so many words and came up short once the story climaxed and tried to pad it out with an extra four chapters, instead of going back and padding the exciting bits. It was so clear right from the beginning that Mal'ak the bad guy was Peter's son Zachary. The out of body stuff was quite frankly crap. The CIA security director, Sato, well if this is the type of person the Americans put in charge of things then god help us all. The hero Professor Langdon throughout the entire book refused point blank to be educated in anything that he didn't already know, in other words if he didn't already know it then it wasn't worth knowing - a true academic - and this was truly annoying by the time the story actually finished. Everyone kept saying to him "please believe", "have faith" no chance with our hero I know better than anyone I'm the hero don't you know, bollocks.

Overall though it was still a reasonably good read and passed away a few idle hours.

7 out of 10 good effort, but a poor endeavour after his other two with the Professor, Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code.
